Vivo V15 is the first smartphone in the industry and in the world to have an elevating front camera.
As the bezel-less trend gets more and more popular, not only did Vivo push the limit with the Ultra FullView display, but they also removed the notch! But how will the phone have a camera without a notch?
Vivo’s answer is the front elevating camera.
The camera specifications
The Vivo V15 isn’t the only smartphone with this unique feature. You can also see the front elevating camera in Vivo NEX and the Vivo V15 Pro, which is the more expensive version of the V15.
When you feel like taking a selfie, call upon it and it will pop out from the chassis. It pops up fast, and it tucks back in neatly when you’re done. It’s a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture lens. The camera also comes with beautification features with AI-assisted enhancements including portrait lighting effects.
As for the rear camera, it’s a triple-camera setup consisting of a 24MP f/1.78 main sensor with Dual Pixel focus. An 8MP AI Super Wide-Angle camera and a third 5MP depth camera also complement the system for the bokeh shots you’ve always wanted.
Designed to be tough
Sceptics out there might feel doubtful about the camera, and that’s totally understandable. One of the main concerns about a front elevating camera is: isn’t it going to break?
Well, Vivo conducted an experiment with the Vivo NEX to address the issue: they formed a circle with eight NEXes with their front camera popped out, placed a round glass on these front camera, and placed a dancing ballerina that weights 50kg on it.
No matter how much the dancer jumped, twirled, and tapped, the phones and their camera remains unbroken.
Don’t miss out on this innovative technology
Vivo is no doubt at the forefront when it comes to innovative technology. Besides the front elevating camera, Vivo is also the first to implement the in-display fingerprint scanning.
